MY STORY
I want to share the beauty I see around me and am inspired by images and emotion that need to be shared with the world.
After retiring from corporate life in 2016 to pursue my painting career, I continued to study art and look for inspiration. In 2018 I rode my bicycle down the west coast of Africa, over 6,500 km through 7 countries for 3 months, capturing images of the amazingly beautiful and friendly people living in the real rural conditions of some of the most poor countries in the world.
My Offer
I choose to see the beauty in the world and love to paint the splendour of my surroundings and my experiences, whether it is of nature or people. Through my paintings, I wish to share the happy scenes or stories with the world. I hope you enjoy it!
My Inspiration
Painting offers me the medium to present a story, originating from an image that I experienced. I particularly like painting from extenuating circumstances, such as rural West Africa, where I traveled by bicycle, meeting amazing, colourful, expressive people and places. I am inspired by colour and light so magically captured by Impressionist painters such as Claude Monet, Camille Pissarro and Anders Zorn.
My Adventures
I started painting in 2016, but my real inspiration was the experiences I had riding through West Africa, and meeting amazing people in these beautiful countries. I am privileged to live in the country, surrounded by spectacular forests and walking amongst the majestic trees, experiencing all seasons that feeds my creativity..
My Techniques
"Shadow is the means by which bodies display their form. The forms of bodies could not be understood in detail but for shadow."
Guidance from art schools such as the Academy of Art Canada and the Toronto School of Art, helped me to develop my painting skills. I stay current by continually attending courses and learning from the masters. I prefer to paint in oil on canvas with a variety of brushes and add texture with a pallet knife.
